Tire Pressure Monitoring System Can Saves Lives

Tire Pressure

Tire Pressure Monitoring System Can Saves Lives
Most people ignore their tires, yet tires are undoubtedly a critical safety component on a vehicle. Where the rubber meets the road affects traction, handling, steering, stability and braking. Because of this, a sudden tire failure can have serious consequences, especially if it occurs when operating at high speeds.
  • Nearly 250,000 accidents occur in the United States per year due to low tire pressure.
  • About 75 % of roadside flats are preceded by a slow leak or under inflation.
  • According to a recent survey, America could reduce its fuel consumption by 10 % and save a collective $2 billion a year by keeping tires properly inflated.
  • NHTSA estimates that tire pressure monitoring systems could prevent as many as 79 deaths and 10,365 injuries each year in the United States.
What is the Effect of Under Inflation?
An estimated 23,000 accidents and 535 fatal accidents annually involve blowouts or flat tires. Maintaining proper tire air pressure is not only a major safety concern, but can also affect the handling and performance of your vehicle.
Why Is It More Expensive and Time Consuming to Have Tires Serviced Rather Than Rotated?
Technicians use special diagnostic tools to test and recalibrate sensors any time a tire is moved from one location on the vehicle to another. A sensor must be tested to make sure it is functioning correctly and also must be reprogrammed whenever tires are moved from one position to another during rotation. OEMs recommend a sensor service kit be installed every time a tire is serviced. These kits include replacement parts to properly service the sensor. Sensors are powered by a battery that usually has a life of 6 to 8 years. The sensor has to be replaced when the battery fails because the batteries are not replaceable.

Oil Change

Oil Change

Engine Oil
Engine oil is what lubricates a car’s engine, allowing it to run smoothly and last longer.Car owners must maintain a car’s engine by changing the oil and using the oil appropriate for their cars make and model. Every car comes with a “check oil” light and an oil filler under the hood. These components allow car owners to monitor their oil levels and add oil as needed, without having to hire a mechanic.
Changing the Oil
An important part of routine car maintenance is changing the oil regularly. The necessary frequency of oil changes has become a point of contention among experts. The Engine Oil Bible maintains that engine oil can’t be changed often enough, but Nordic group insists that, with the advent of detergent oils and multi-weight oils, some vehicles can go as far as 6,000 miles before needing an oil change. The best course of action is to check the owner’s manual and follow manufacturer’s recommendations.
An obvious benefit of changing one’s own oil is saving money, but oil change services frequently advertize bargains. If the “check engine oil” light comes on while driving, this is a strong indication that the car is running low on oil. A driver does not need a mechanic to add oil. However, if the oil light stays on or lights up shortly after adding oil, there may be a leak and a mechanic should look at the car.

When should I get my oil changed?

You should get your oil changed every 3000 miles or as recommended in your vehicle’s owner’s manual. If intervals are extended, ensure you use oil that is capable of extended mileage changes.

Guardian Interlock Model

AMS2000 Model & Features
After 20 years of experience in the Ignition Interlock (car Breathalyzer) industry, Guardian has developed the most advanced design in the industry. Easy-to-understand operating instructions, combined with a compact design, make participants more apt to use the AMS 2000 in a timely and accurate manner.

Go Driver Program
AMS2000 Features
Auto Calibration — Three alcohol samples are delivered to the unit, from which the device auto calibrates, eliminating the need for the service center to manually adjust device calibration.
Hum Tone — Requires the participant to hum into the device before taking the breath test. This helps thwart bogus air samples.
Blow/Inhale — Requires the participant to blow into the device and inhale before taking the breath test. This technique helps thwart bogus air samples.
On-Board Data Logger — A computer that records every interaction a participant has with his or her vehicle. Recorded interactions include activity, time, date, and BrAC level. The computer can store more than 12,000 separate events and display the content in a summary or detailed format.
Memo Minder — A service calendar that uses audio and visual reminders to count the days between required scheduled appointments. If the participant misses his or her appointment, the service calendar disables the interlock device, preventing the car from starting.
Circumvention Alarm — If the interlock device detects a bypass, or detects a failed rolling retest, the circumvention alarm will trigger the vehicle's horn until the vehicle is turned off.
Rolling Retest — As a follow up to the initial breath test, this is the device's primary defense against circumvention. The test can be set to occur at fixed or random intervals. If a participant fails the test, the circumvention alarm will sound.
Bypass Detection — An instrument that detects whether the vehicle is running. If a car is running, but the participant has not yet taken a breath test, the circumvention alarm will sound. The interlock device then enters a lockout state for a predetermined period.
Power Interrupt — A record of when the vehicle's power has been disconnected or interrupted. This may occur if the participant tampers with the battery, repairs the battery, or replaces the battery. Participants are required to provide documentation of repairs.
Violations Reset — A function that contains features from the Data Logger and the Memo Minder. If the device detects a violation from one of these features, it will automatically reset the Memo Minder, requiring the participant to come in for early service.
Emergency Restart — In case of a vehicle stall, this feature allows the vehicle an emergency restart within one minute of shutdown.
Variable Driving Privilege (VDP) — This feature can restrict an offender's driving abilities. It can be programmed to accept tests only during predetermined periods of the day.
Coordinated Breath Pulse Access (CBPA)— A series of pauses and breaths that must be completed after the initial breath test. This is an advanced method for identifying a bogus air sample.

What is the Guardian? Advanced Alcohol Monitor Device?

The Guardian Advanced Alcohol Monitoring Device is a state of the art, alcohol specific ignition interlock.  This device is the culmination of over 20 years of ignition interlock experience.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How Does the Guardian AMS2000 Work?

Simply, we will install the AMS2000 into the vehicle through the electrical system.  When the device, through a simple breath test, detects more than a predetermined level of alcohol the car will not start.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How Do I Use the AMS2000?

Starting The Car
    1. Get in car and put seatbelt on
    2. DO NOT PUT KEYS IN THE IGNITION
    3. Push button on AMS 2000
    4. Wait for messages: "warmup", "blow now"
    5. Blow into mouthpiece as directed in your manual
    6. The device will go through its detection cycle
    7. If BAC is low enough, LED will say "pass", "start car"
    8. Put keys in ignition
    9. Start vehicle
Rolling Retest
    1. Unit beeps and says, “rolling retest”
    2. Be aware of your surroundings to ensure a safely taken test, if you cannot take the test safely you   have a period of time to pull over to do so
    3. Pick up hand-held unit
    4. Wait for messages – “blow now”
    5. Blow into mouth piece for 5 or 6 seconds until unit beeps
    6. Wait for a distinguishable sound and If BAC is low enough, LED will say “pass”
    7. Continue driving
Turning Off The Car
    1. Park car
    2. Turn the ignition off

What is synthetic oil?

Synthetic motor oils can be a good choice for high output, turbocharged or supercharged engines, vehicles that are used for towing ( especially during hot weather), or vehicles that are operated in extremely cold or hot climates.

Synthetic motor oils, though several times more expensive than mineral – based motor oils, can improve fuel economy and provide longer intervals between changes. They also provide instant lubrication on start-up.

Guardian Interlock

How the Program Works

The program starts when an offender is sentenced to have a Guardian Interlock Device installed on his or her vehicle. The Guardian Interlock Device is a breath analyzer that is attached to the ignition system of the vehicle. Each time a participant starts the car, he or she must first blow into the unit.
The unit determines if the breath alcohol level is above or below a preset legal limit. If it is below this limit, the participant may start the car. If it is above the limit, the unit prevents the vehicle from starting.
